Shade sails are an artistic way of solving the age-old problem of how to keep cool under the blazing sun. They can take on many shapes, from the classic triangle to more abstract forms with up to six points.
Strong forces create a light-as-air look
A system of cables, turnbuckles, and anchor points is engineered to stretch the shade sails nice and taut in order to keep their distinctive shapes and give them greater resistance to rain and wind.
Anchor points can be installed on buildings and posts, allowing for flexibility when choosing a location.
- Strong wind resistanceThe anchor points are installed at varying heights, giving the shade sails a slightly twisted form that resists strong winds.
- Efficient moisture diversionThe twisted shape also lets the shade sail effectively shed water even though the fabric itself isn’t waterproof.
- Broad UV protectionThe fabric shields against harmful ultraviolet radiation, providing up to 98% protection depending on the material type.
- Unlimited size optionsShade sails can be made to virtually any size, making them a great option for both cozy backyard patios and vast public spaces.
Performance fabric
Shade sails systems owe much of their popularity to their defining feature: the fabric. This specialty, high-tech material is knitted instead of woven, allowing it to stretch and flex to take on different shapes so beautifully.
A host of other practical features add substance to this textile’s style:
- It offers protection from harmful UV rays
- It is incredibly durable and won’t tear
- Some fabrics are 100% recyclable
- All fabrics are backed by a 15-year manufacturer's warranty against UV degradation, rot, and mould

Shade sail shapes
Choose from the more common 3-point and 4-point shapes, or go custom if your location needs something more unique.
3-point (triangle)
3-point shade sails can have sides of equal or varying lengths, so you can have a perfectly symmetrical triangle or a more irregular form.
4-point (quadrilateral)
4-point shade sails offer a lot of possibilities when it comes to shapes: square, rectangle, trapezoid, parallelogram, diamond, kite, and more. And of course their exact form will be customized to fit your space.
5-point or 6-point (custom)
A custom shape may be the best option depending on the size and shape of the location.

We take care of the entire process
Shade sails can require careful planning, preparation and labour to get their design just right.
The steps involved in bringing a shade sail project to life include:
- Evaluating the space to determine the size, shape and location of sails that are needed to get the desired shade.
- Sourcing any posts that are needed.
- Installing the posts. This may require using heavy machinery to dig deep enough holes to make ensure the posts stay safely in place.
- Reinforcing areas on buildings where anchor hardware is to be installed, if necessary.
- Installing the anchor hardware at the proper locations and heights on the posts and on the building(s).
- Taking the proper measurements, then having the shade sail(s) made to the exact specifications needed for the design.
- Installing the shade sail(s), ensuring the proper positioning and tensioning of the cables and hardware.
That's quite a bit, isn't it?
That's why we take care of the entire project, so all you need to do is bask in the shade once it's complete!
